Chair Theory By Phoebe Philo

Have you ever noticed the recurring props in Phoebe Philo’s shoots? Chairs and tables. They appear in every drop, using both new pieces and ones we’ve already seen before.

Alongside no-name (or those I couldn't identify) objects, you can also spot:

  • the transparent glass Ghost chair, designed by Italian designer Cini Boeri in the late 1980s

  • the Todo Modo chair, designed in the 1990s by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte for the Louvre; it features a reversible backrest allowing the chair to face either direction

  • a re-edition of the chaise lounge by Robert Mallet-Stevens from the 1920s, originally designed for the villa in Hyères

  • the rope chair by Danish designer Hans Wegner, designed in 1950

  • the Nomos table, designed by Norman Foster in 1986 for Tecno, a modular aluminium table system

  • the coffee table by Renato Zevi, designed in Italy circa 1975

What sits behind the furniture in these shots?
