When I come across another celebrity red carpet moment, I rarely think purely in terms of like/dislike within the context of fashion choice. I think about the possible idea behind the look, brand relations, the stylist and their objectives. What celebrities wear on the red carpet is, in the vast majority of cases, not just about whether it suits them or not, but also about a range of other factors.

That said, I always pay attention to:

• Neatness

• Proportions — which can almost always be adjusted with accessories to create a better balance

• Fit — where choosing the correct size is critical

These are the elements that can be controlled to achieve a more visually flattering result.

So what is wrong with the Dior top on Alexander Skarsgård?

  • It is too small for him — which is clearly visible in the chest area;

  • Technically — on the runway, this top features a single semicircle of lace. To make a bigger size, the atelier did not add volume through the sequin fabric at the sides, but instead resolved it by inserting a wider lace panel, making the neckline broader. This kind of adjustment will always visually add width;

  • The top also appears to be a bit too short.

As a result — regardless of style — beyond the somewhat comical appearance, a look where such technical aspects were not properly addressed does not add value to the brand, the stylist, or the actor, who also presents himself through his own visual signature.
